THINKING MUSIC – Schools’ Opportunities with BCMS

BCMS will make contact with three Birmingham schools and offer a concert-going package which includes a pre-concert workshop at Birmingham Conservatoire.

GCSE and A level Music students will be given a pre-concert workshop exploring some of the music featured in the programme through their own composing and performing.  This session will be led by Liz Johnson, composer and teacher, who will tailor the session to the needs of each group.

The pre-concert workshop will take place 4.00-5.30 pm, immediately before the concert at 7.15 pm. The participating students will also have a chance to meet the professional musicians and the Young Performer’s Platform soloist(s).

BCMS will be producing Thinking Music packs for schools giving information about all the 08-09 season’s events and different ways to get involved with Chamber Music at BCMS.

Thinking Music is funded by Making Music

"...It was a very interesting session. We learned to work with other people, compose in a short time and communicate with other people. I enjoyed listening to the music...I am looking forward to the concert."

"...The very good thing about the workshop was how we were mde to compose in a very short space of time.  It was fun improvising in small chamber groups..."
